Pensioners In Imo State Protest Over Non Payment Of Pension Arrears

The Imo State Members of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners in a good number, took to the street of Owerri on a protest halting vehicular movement for hours demanding that the state government pay them their pension arrears owed to them since February 2020.
The chairman of the pensioner's intervention committee in Imo State, Ohaneje Iyke says the union has made several appeals to the government and other relevant authorities in the state but all to no avail.

Their protest shut down the state capital, particularly the Government House axis, for hours while security operatives were on ground to forestall breakdown of law and order.

Speaking to journalists on behalf of the protesters, the Chairman, Pension Intervention Committee of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Iyke Ohaneje, expressed grievances over the arrears owed them. He claimed that pensioners in the state were owed a backlog of pension arrears over a period of four months from February till date.

Tragedy as lightning strike kills three FRSC officials in Ogun

Three officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have been struck to death by thunder in Ogun State. DAILY POST reports that the incident occurred on Wednesday at the old toll gate, Ilese, in Ijebu North East Local Government Area of the state. The FRSC confirmed the incident which reportedly occurred around 10am. The deceased FRSC officials were said to be planning for the early morning parade at the premises of their office when the tragic incident happenedIt was gathered that over 10 operatives of the corps were at the location when the thunder, struck and killed three of them immediately.
